After the birth of your child, your home may fill up with visitors, ranging from relatives, colleagues, friends and even acquaintances all coming to congratulate you and check on the baby. They will come with loads of gifts for you and baby. However, you will not have the energy and time to entertain guests since you need time to bond with your child and you will also be in the midst of your recovery.
You cannot do away with all the visitors; they will still come even without notifying you. However, your confinement nanny can help you with the hosting as you take some time to rest. Before long, all the visitors will leave, your spouse will probably resume work after his paternity leave and you will be on your own; with your baby, to nurse, cuddle, worry about and burn the midnight oil together.

Watch the baby
Set some time aside and offer to nurse the baby while the mother rests. The little one may cry from time to time. Do not rush and give the infant back to the mother. Just do your best to calm the baby and ensure the mother enjoys her rest.
While at it, remember to give her some space. She may not ask you to leave, but you should read the signs that she needs to be alone. Offer your help without overcrowding her space. There will be times she will not be interested in listening to your stories, just understand and respect that, while in some instances she will need you to listen to her and give the assurance that she is doing a great job. Give her the support she needs and help her cope with the new roles as a mother.
