Five Essentials to Bring When Going Out With Your Baby

As a new mum, the bond between you and your baby extends beyond the pregnancy to the confinement period. Whether you are going for a picnic, stroll, holiday or just a short trip with your baby, you will realise the need to diligently plan and prepare everything your baby needs in their nappy bag. At this early stage, you need to exercise care when taking your baby out of the comfort of home. You must bring along the essentials to keep your baby happy and comfortable. To achieve this, you must have the following five items every time you go out with your baby.

Nappies and clothes

For every hour you go out with you baby, spare one nappy.  You should carry excess diapers in case of any unplanned events, such as a delayed flight or prolonged outing.  It is not a given you will be able to find what your baby needs out wherever you are going. Therefore, play safe by ensuring you carry enough for your baby.

When it comes to the baby clothes, ensure you also carry enough cool clothes, warm clothes and hats. This assortment will ensure your baby remains comfortable despite weather fluctuations by keeping off the sun where necessary and keeping the baby warm when it’s too cold. Having enough baby clothes will also help you in the event your baby sweats too much, has a bowel accident or vomits as you can help them change to ensure they are comfortable throughout the day.

Baby travel accessories

Among the first things you consider before getting out of the house should bee his travel accessories. Ensure you carry his car seat to secure him in the car, bus or train. You should also carry a pushchair when you suspect you may take a route over bumpy and all-terrain roads.

Food and drinks

If your baby still breastfeeds, ensure you carry a shawl for privacy during breastfeeding. For formula fed babies, pack formula powder, enough bottles, teats, bottle warmer and sterilising equipment for bottled milk. You should ensure your formula is enough to last you through your outing. As a mother, carry easy snacks and water for yourself to maintain your energy levels and prevent dehydration.

Baby comfort items

Among the comfort items, you can carry for your baby should be a few toys. Should your baby have an attachment to a blanket just because it smells of home, carry it along as the baby will be more comfortable smelling it as he rests.

Bed and bath supplies

Where your outing takes more than a day, you will have a sleepover. In this case, ensure you baby remains comfortable by ensuring they sleep the same way they do while at home. Therefore, carry your baby’s pyjamas, blankets and plug-in night light for night time feeds and nappy changes.  Ensure you also carry enough toiletries including your baby wash, sponge, lotion and shampoo. You can also consider the safety bath plugs to wash your baby comfortably.

As seen above, going out with your baby requires you to carry all his or her stuff without fail. If you find this overwhelming, consider getting the help of a confinement nanny who will help you manoeuvre along with your baby. These nannies are professionals. Hence they will also take care of you and your baby throughout your outing.
